In investments one of the best investment decisions that I have ever made was to marry Audrey who has been my partner in life, business and ministry. Because of that partnership we have achieved so much by God’s grace. Many people aim at succeeding in wealth creation while losing their marriages and families. The greatest investment is always in relationships. Today join me as I renew my vows with the love of my life. Ladies in gentlemen we are gathered here today to witness the renewing of vows between TA and AR. Enjoy the journey.

“Twenty years ago, on 21st July 1990, I, Tawafadza Anold Makoni, took you Audrey Ropafadzo, to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from that day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until death do us part.

On that day while holding hands, I covenanted with you before God and witnesses to be your husband, to join myself to you as one flesh, to love you as Christ loves the Church, to cherish you, protect and provide for you, forsaking all others and cleaving only to you, until death separates us.

I promised to care for you, lead you and guide you in paths of righteousness and provide for your needs in this life. On that day I separated myself from my mother and father, and covenanted with you to be a faithful husband to you as long as we both would live.”

By the grace of God I have over the last twenty years endeavored to keep my promise. I have stumbled sometimes in pursuit of keeping the promise. I may have been challenged but we made it somehow.

Once before, I have stand with you before family and friends; once again, I take your hand as my partner. Audrey Ropafadzo, I take you this day, and for all days, as my wife saying:

“You are mine, my love, and I am yours, as ordained by God from the beginning of time. God brought us together, kept us together.
You are God’s gift to me, my priceless treasure, my blessing for life. May God bless us as we come together before our family and friends to renew our covenant and pledge of love to one another. Just to say I love you more now than then and I promise to always love you.”

You promised to love me unconditionally, to support me in my goals, to honour and respect me, to laugh with me and cry with me, and to cherish me for as long as we both would live. You gave me your promise that: Where I went you would go; where I lodged you would lodge. My people would be your people and my God your God.

You have kept your promise and I am grateful. Twenty years later, I believe in this marriage more strongly than ever. Audrey it is with joy born of experience and trust, that I commit myself once again you.

“I, Tawafadza Anold, give to you, Audrey Ropafadzo, a new promise, and yet not so new; a new husband, and yet not so new; and a new affirmation of love from the heart that has loved you for 20years and will love you for as many more as we both shall live. I am honoured to be your husband.”

If the rest of the journey is half as good as the path we have already trod, then here is to the rest of the journey. In chemistry I was told that Au is a symbol of gold and indeed you have been my gold and my anchor in times of trouble. Thanks for believing in me when no one else would. Love you more.

Happy twentieth anniversary.

Tomorrow we continue with the reasons for investing.

We are sending you a letter that’s missing from our recent comments. Its ‘r’ You can use it anywhere and in any way you feel appropriate…. like the UN Secretary General replaces the letter ‘L’ with the letter ‘R’ when he is making press statements…
